Troop 295 was chartered in 1988 with the American Legion Post #321 and has been promoting the scouting program ever since. Our troop usually meets the first 2 Mondays of every month from 7:30 to 9:00 pm. We hold scoutmaster conferences and board of reviews every 3rd Monday of the month as needed and have patrol leader conferences the last Monday of every month. At this meeting, our senior patrol leader and patrol leaders plan our meetings for the up coming month. As can be seen, our troop puts emphasis on boys planning and running the meetings.
Our troop tries to help new scouts to reach First Class within their first 6-12 months. We try to alot about 15 minutes every meeting to work on rank advancements for the younger scouts. During this time older scouts help teach the younger scouts scout skills. During our meetings, adults rarely run the meetings.
Our troop does an activity about every month. In the past, we’ve gone camping, shooting, fishing, rock climbing, the NASA space center in Houston, Mavericks basketball games, and many other fun activities. We try to attend summer camp and winter camp, which are 1 week long camps, every year.
We currently have 49 Eagles. And our Eagle Coordinator helps potential eagles to achieve the rank of Eagle scout. For more information look under Eagles.
